Whether you’re getting the girls together for a bachelorette, a birthday celebration, or you have a big job interview coming up that you really want to nail, a professional blow dry bar is seriously the best thing since well… blow dryers! Recently a gorgeous new blow dry bar, Urban 30 opened up here in Halifax, and I had a chance to go check it out.
Urban 30 offers several different styles that can easily be customized based on preference (read full menu here). Whether you’re looking for full volume and bouncy curls or a sleek and smooth texture, these girls have got you covered. For special events you can also opt for a full head of curls, up-dos, boho side braids or fish tails. Urban 30 even offers a “Bro-Dry” (adorable right?) that offers a 10 minute scalp massage, blow dry and style for men seeking to make an impression for their next big meeting and/or presentation!
Pricing is based on how long your hair is (clearly this would determine how long it would take to style your hair).
Short Glass (hair falls above shoulders) – $30
Tall Glass (hair falls below shoulders) – $35
Located at the heart of downtown, Urban 30 sits at street level across from Parade Square just below the Alica Melanson hair salon. Urban 30 is Atlantic Canada’s first “blow dry bar” concept, and with quite a big buzz in major cities like New York and Toronto we’re happy to see it come to frition here in our own city. Urban 30 also offers some additional aesthetic services as well from makeup, nails, lash & even waxing services to make sure you are ready for anything!
With affordable pricing, and a beautiful downtown location Urban 30 is definitely a must for any girls night! The girls working we seriously so sweet! I had the best time, and everyone looked so glamorous! You would think you were at a photo shoot or a fashion show because all the girls literally looked like they could have walked out of a magazine.
Even the washroom was adorable! And for the record Lancome Tresor is seriously my new favorite fragrance. My sister gave me it for Christmas, and I get compliments on it ALL the time. Sorry I digress. Back to the hair!
Having just lobbed off to donate it (read that post here), I had my reservations about getting my short hair styled by someone else. But I was also REALLY excited to get some texture into my hair. I still need to get my hands on that hair wand (in a bad way) because all of my curling irons are much too big for my short locks at the moment, and so I’ve been rocking some majorly sleek styles lately.
Audrey (my hair stylist) used a bubble wand on my hair, and it did a great job of adding just a little bit of curl, but nothing too serious or ringletty. I wanted like a beachy wave look that was kind of lived in, and I think she did a great job! My hair even survived overnight and I hardly even did anything to my hair for my dance recital the next day. I mean I may or may not have washed my bangs directly before the dance show, but that’s only because I had been dancing for 5 hours for the dress rehearsal and they were literally stuck to my forehead (not cute). All in all my hair really held up well considering what I put it through 🙂
Great job Urban 30! Wishing you all the success, but I know you won’t need it! You’re going to do great! Thanks for having me!
xx Short Presents
PS: Before you go can we just for a second talk about the fact that these photos were taken using my Samsung Galaxy Note? I’m sure you’re plenty tired of hearing about me rant and rave about this thing, but I’m honestly obsessed! I didn’t edit these photos at all, and they all came out SO clear. Of course my little selfie here at the bottom has a nice little Valenicia filter on it! I mean how could I resist right?
