Igor Stravinsky and Vaslav Nijinsky collaborated together on one of the most
shocking and ground breaking music and ballet pieces that the world had ever
experienced especially for the very conservative patrons of 1913. The Film Coco and Igor does an amazing job of portraying the anger and frustration that irrupted in the audience when this piece was first performed. People were literally offended by the piece, and so much so that a riot quickly broke out in the Theatre Des Champs-Elysees in Paris. Stravinsky an intense man himself ignited that same intensity into his music and clearly his audience as well. You can read more about The Rite of Spring by clicking here.
If this isn’t sufficiently creepy enough for you blog reader I’m not sure what is!
Happy Halloween!
