Determine The Dress Code
Wine
and cheese parties vary in their dress codes depending on whether the
event is formal or in-formal. Always be sure to confirm the dress code
before making any decisions. When I think about wine and cheese I
immediately think simple, easy, sophisticated and elegant, and so when
you are planning your outfit try to encapsulate these concepts so they
translate effortlessly into your ensemble.

Consider The Event And Its Purpose:
In order to really appropriately dress for the event think about the purpose of the event. What are you doing there? What other kinds of people will be attending? This should help you to determine whether to glam it up, or keep it casual.

If All Else Fails:
Some really safe choices would be to wear black and white, and pair it with the most interesting piece of jewelry you own. Think of a subdued more casual version of Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Statement jewelry was definitely on trend for the ECFB wine and cheese event. Check out these great pieces worn by the blogger lovelies.

What I wore:

Because the event we were attending was at one of the blogger’s house I decided that it was more appropriate to situate myself somewhere in between formal and informal or otherwise known as “casual dressy”. With an iphone in one pocket and lipstick in the other I was ready for the wine and cheese. Special thanks to my grandmother for purchasing this “little black dress” wine for me, which I nerded out by wearing a little black dress to accompany it.

For casual dressy:
Keep to informal dresses, skirts, blouses and trousers. Resist the urge to wear a floor length gown, or your old prom dress. Normally the colors for a formal wine and cheese would include, black, blue or red, but because this event is casual dressy I don’t see why bright hues wouldn’t be appropriate, but just remember to keep the fabric and cut sophisticated.
