I debated waiting to post this closer to spring, but with the temps dropping already I figured you might like a little pick me up and a heads up of what’s to come! Here are some of my favorite pieces, and collections from World Master Card Fashion Week Spring Summer 2016, and what trends you can look forward to (or cringe about) for coming year!
This girl knows work wear, and these colors are so beautiful you could totally haul them with you into fall. Also loving the delicate body chain paired under this over-sized structured blazer. Photos c/o Anushila Shaw
For anyone who oohs and aahs over the ladies on Suits, (I know it’s not just me) this collection is for you. From stylish pencil skirts that go to daring heights to sporty day looks to suit any powerhouse lady. Rachel reminds us to remember mesh as well, as the asymmetrical hemlines for spring.

Unpredictable and unsymmetrical this collection combined the perfect amount of quirk with simplicity. Note the subtle details of hemlines, and mismatched earrings. This season’s collection saw Urbanovitch branch into prints, in collaboration with artist Bernadette Paets. Photos c/o Sidewalkhustle.
anyone can convince us that long vests are a must have for spring: it’s
Sid! This kid never stops making truly beautiful pieces. Staying true to
his aesthetic I welcomed the addition of various colors like this
gorgeous blue hue.
Their tassled minimalism
won this year’s Mercedes Benz StartUp competition, and
while the other competitors were extremely talented (I have no idea
how they deliberated so quick I was really impressed this year with all of them) UNITLD really came out with a bang. Photos c/o George Pimentel
Known for amazing leather, and moto jackets a plenty (this little number featured above was a little bit of shocker when it came out last in the collection), but he played with some new fabrics and lenths and it really paid off. To all of you who think black and navy can’t be paired together Mackage is here to steer you in the right direction. Photos c/o George Pimentel
Artfully presented this collection clearly had vision and its cohesiveness rang true piece after piece. From the the uniform snow white wigs on the models to the beautiful structure at the start of the runaway it was truly stunning. I’ll admit there’s nothing I love more at a fashion show then when the collection has been clearly thought out, and perfectly executed. This collection while on the runway was like being told a story, and while the designer was clearly inspired by the ice princess concept (dare I say the gals from Frozen) you truly felt like you were swept away to a far off land in the most beautiful sophisticated way. caps, goggles, and neoprene oh my. Held off site (and by invite only) Idesigner Evik Asatoorian didn’t disapoint and I found myself wanting so many pieces in the collection. From transparent
was really happy to able to soak in this collection. As usual
shirt dresses, fringe everything coupled with structured neoprene and
sporty mesh in monochrome hues I pretty much wanted it all. Photos c/o George Pimentel.
Youthful and vibrant Pink Tartan reminded us that it’s okay to wear stripes, and color, and fringe again. Or you know not, I LOVED this full skirt and crop combo with the mesh detailing at the bottom, and the choker necklace paired with kicks. Photos c/o George Pimentel.
A little boho, but always playful and chic Narces might convince even the most nontraditional among us that we want to get married someday. Photos c/o George Pimentel.
I adore Mikhael Kale, he’s actually the sweetest and most humble, but his pieces are always beautiful and artfully crafted. The white pearl dress must have been like wearing a rock collection, but my god was it stunning. I can only imagine the time and effort that goes into creating these pieces. Ohhhhh Lucian Matis with this dress. Easily my favorite dress of the entire collection, and arguably of the entire week. From the beautiful pleats (huge trend for spring) to the soft lilac with the pop of red to the almost mid evil bead work on the sleeves, and top of the dress. I just couldn’t stop looking at it. This show could easily be one of my favorites. The dramatic shapes of the neoprene pieces were just really refreshing, and unlike anything I’d see at fashion week. I wanted everything, and I wanted to touch everything. The structure of these pieces were truly stunning. Photos c/o George Pimentel
Hope you enjoyed this little recap from fashion week! There were so many great collections this year the designers really did a fantastic job, and I felt so lucky to be there to take it all in with my fellow blog lovelies. I always enjoy my time spent in Toronto, so fashion week with all my squad? Is just icing on the cake.
To recap some major trends you’re going to see for SS 16 are: ruffles, pleats, fringe (yup isn’t going anywhere), mesh (sporty looks), monochrome or minimalist dressing, sheer or transparent fabric, florals (groundbreaking I know, but these ones are 3D), vests and layered over pieces, plunging necklines, culottes, and statement earrings. Phewf! You got all that?
Happy Friday !
