Fashion Friday this week is coming to you in the form of an inspirational polyvore! For a lot of the major universities next week is Spring Break, and so I thought it would be fitting to give some packing suggestions before many of you headed somewhere warm.
When ever I am going away somewhere warm I like to bring as little as possible, realistically you are probably going to be spending the majority of your time in your bathing suit and beach dress anyway, so all the extra junk you tote along with you won’t even get a chance to be unfolded from your suitcase let alone worn on your body. When ever I pack to go somewhere I like to bring items that can double up, and/or be mixed and matched with other items in order to maximize their use, so bring a few basics like denim shorts and some comfortable walking shoes like keds and build out from there.
The biggest thing you need to remember is your sunscreen, apparently a lot of the chemicals in drug store brands of sunscreen break down, and so they really aren‘t giving you the actual sun protection you really need/want. Also with these major cut out swimsuits you’re going to want to lather on the sunscreen otherwise you’re going to look pretty weird the next time you wear a different one. Of all the drugstore brands of sunscreen La Roche Posay is said to be the most effective, as research suggests that the products does not break down the way other drugstore brands do.
Covering up is also important, you might really want a sweet tan, but it‘s really not good for your skin (long term) to have too much exposure to the sun. Trust me! your older self will appreciate that you took the care to protect it from getting wrinkles and brown spots. Apply sunscreen to your shoulders, chest, ears and around your mouth, as these are the most common areas for developing skin cancer. A lip balm with SPF is also a good idea because your lips, as well as the skin around your lips is very very thin making is very vulnerable to the sun’s rays and more susceptible for sun damage. Bring a good hat, and some sunnies with UV protection, and make some shade time whenever you can while out and about doing activities. Heat stroke sucks, and there’s no bigger damper on a parade than feeling like you are going ralph everywhere if you don’t lie down.
For makeup I usually just wear a little bronzer, and some waterproof mascara ๐ you’re on vacation remember, so you don‘t need to be all dolled up the entire time. My hair get cray in humid weather, does anyone remember Monica’s hair from Friends? well it’s not THAT bad, but folks it gets pretty bad in humidity so I optting for anti-frizz product might not be a bad idea if you have fine hair like me. I quite like the Bumble and Bumble one ๐ Note: a little goes along way!
One final thing to remember: always make sure to bring at least one outfit that can be dressed up, to give you a good example I opted for this cut out maxi with these super sexy strappy scandals ๐ all you would need to do is add a little lipcolor and tie your hair up in a little top knot and you’re ready for dinner and drinks.

Lol lol I loved your write up; my hair is so awful in humidity…somehow flat but still frizzy haha. These are great picks, I especially like that black dress and the anchor tank. I have been living vicariously through people's vacations as well haha…at least I got to go home to BC.
