Homemade (Spicy) Pita Chips

So I totally made this recipe up from scratch and you probably could too with items you already have in your kitchen! I have no idea how pita chips are made, but this is how I do it, and it seems to work really well. I used to buy pita chips from specialty grocery stores, but always thought they were over priced. One day it just came to me that I could totally make these myself (and for a lot less). With the Mid East Food Centre a few blocks away these bad boys can be whipped up in a flash! Literally.
My apologies for the lack of photos blog readers. I literally only have this photo above of the pita chips before they went into the oven because they honestly were gone that fast! Sorry!

Ingredients:

  • One package of small whole wheat pita bread (approx 5 pitas)

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/8 tsp onion powder

  • 1/8 tsp paprika

  • 1/8 tsp ground mustard

  • 1/8 tsp of black pepper

  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Directions
Preheat oven 350
degrees

Cut pitas in half using clean kitchen scissors, and then cut each of those half into fours (8 pieces in total).

Combine olive oil and spices in a small mason jar and cover and shake. Set aside.

Brush cookie sheet with a thin layer of olive oil.

Spread out pita triangles in a single layer on cookie sheet.

Brush on the spice mixture over the tops of all the triangles.

Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

Enjoy with your favorite dips! Might I suggest this navy bean and spinach dip or this avocado soup recipe.

Sorry for the lack of recipe posts lately blog readers; although I’ve been cooking it’s not been any new recipes. Promise to ship up and post more delicious recipes soon!

Happy Tuesday Blog Readers,
Sincerely,
