Giuliana Rancic’s Detox Harvest Soup

#Make it Tonight Monday

Okay so I may or may not have a little girl crush on Giuliana Rancic. I love watching her show Giuliana and Bill, on E!; I get the biggest kick of her crazy antics with her husband. It may also be partially due to the fact I spotted Giuliana at Sephora was I was in NYC last year. Click here for the photos: Sephora w/ Giuliana Ranic.

I recently just discovered her website FabFitFun and I am EVEN more in love. The site features everything my little inner fashionista desires: from hair and makeup tips to health and food advice to healthy recipes: I die.

Giuliana is a bit twiggy, and I wouldn’t ever dare try to be as thin as her because I don’t think it is healthy to have such a low body fat percentage, but I think she’s got something with this soup recipe.

The Detox Harvest Soup has a lot of really great nutrients, and cleansing properties; I think it could make a great addition to any diet. What I love about this soup is that in calls for Turmeric and Cumin; both of these spices have a lot of health benefits and helping to prevent alzheimer is one of them. The recipe also calls for ginger, and as we know ginger has been known to help detoxify and help cleanse your internal organs, not to mention it also is a natural antinauseant.

1 teaspoon turmeric

1 teaspoon maca

1/2 teaspoon cumin

Rinse and soak your lentils first, as this will prevent unwanted flatulence.
Place all ingredients in large pot and heat on high until everything comes to a roaring boil.
Cover and simmer until vegetables are tender.

Add salt and pepper to taste and serve.

Enjoy alone for lunch, or with a sandwich for dinner 🙂

A while back Giuliana was having problems conceiving a child. Many people don't know this, but infertility can be directly attributed to low body fat percentage.

The reason for this is that body fat affects the release of the hormones which stimulate the ovary to produce an egg, and regulate the menstrual cycle.
