Our last (but certainly not least) guest blogger might be a newbie when it comes to blogging, but this graphic designer and major DIYer has got some mad skills!

Happy Spring! I’m Brit, author of local lifestyle blog britdesign, and I am super excited for
the opportunity to guest feature on Short Presents and talk style with her
wonderful followers (that’s you)! I am a home décor and interior design
enthusiast, with a love for style on the side. If you light up when you see adorable
typography, and belong to every home décor mailing list in what seems like the
world, it’s okay, we should be friends!

I am very much a minimalist, from home
décor to my style. I am inspired by clean lines, neutral palettes, and
simplicity. My family and friends are always rolling their eyes (in fun, I
think…) when they see that I’ve bought another black jacket, or grey shirt- but
I say you have to dress in what makes you feel good!

I have learned to embrace my inner minimalist
and I love when a fashion trend works with my style, which is why I was
ecstatic about this Spring’s “must have” piece: the flared jean (what?! The
70’s style flared jean is back in?!) Yes ladies, rejoice! The very forgiving,
flattering, flared jean has come back to enrich our lives with long legs and
“cool girl” chic once again! I am 5’4, and I have gone through my fair share of
emotionally draining dressing room disappointments when trying to find jeans
that flatter my “long torso, short leg” body type (don’t even get me started on
skinny jeans, sigh!).
But last week, I slipped into a pair of flared jeans at
Forever 21, and could have burst into song at how amazing I felt in them. Even
better- they were only $17 (reg. price)! The key to pairing flared jeans is
proportion and balance so you end up with a look that’s chic and tailored, not costum-ey
and frumpy. I suggest a top with structure. I’ve paired mine with a structured
white blouse and layered it with a structured faux-leather jacket. I topped off
the look with an animal print cuff to add pattern, a geometric ring for some
shine, a structured envelope bag, and a pair of 2” leather peep-toed booties. Always
remember, the key to any outfit is feeling good in it!

Will you be
sporting a pair of flared jeans this season?
