With a trip to Mexico just around the corner, and dessert dry skin (thanks to old man winter) these Make Up Forever products could not have come at a better time.
I’m a huge fan of primers, and since we’ve been recently experiencing an extended winter here in Halifax: my skin is beyond dry. And I don’t know about you blog reader, but the areas around my nose, chin and forehead have seen better days. It seems that no matter what I put on my skin nothing absorbs, and my makeup just doesn’t sit right.
With a plethora of Make Up Ever primers available (10 to be exact) I chose the Step 1 Skin Equalizer “Hydrating Primer” (I figure you cant go wrong right?), and I couldn’t have been more happy with my choice. The product absorbs quickly and makes my skin feel like I’ve dunked it in some water! After applying the product my skin feels fresh and ready for my daily make up routine. With 10 different versions there’s bound to be one that addresses your skin concerns, so whether you need a matifying primer or you want to nourish your skin you’ll find something that is tailored to your needs.
When it comes to sun protection I can admittingly be a bit of a nut about it. I’ve spent a lot of hours working with plastic surgeons at the hospital over the past few years. And through my work at the hospital I’ve seen what can happen when you don’t take proper care of your skin, and trust me you do not want to google BCC, or SCC. There are things you can’t unsee people! Don’t do it.
In an effort to appear as though I get some sun, and I don’t wear sunscreen all year round I like to use a great bronzer. I love the Pro Sculpting Duo two toned bronzer from Make Up Forever (comes in two shades so just make sure you choose the right one for your skin tone) because you can use the lighter shade for a little highlight on it’s own or use both to add color to your skin and contour your cheekbones (as I like to do as well) to create a sun kissed glow. I typically blend my blush with my bronzer to give a nice bronzey rosey glow! I start by applying the bronzer in a “3” shape starting at my hair line, and coming in under my cheekbones, and then out again under my jawline. I add a little to the temples and the sides of my nose. Using the gold shade I then sweep a small amount along my upper cheekbone (just under your eyes) to help catch light, and then I add a blush to apples of my cheeks and blend the color back into the bronzer under my cheek bones. I usually use the makeup forever finishing powder to blend everything together. It sounds like a lot, but my whole make up routine actually only takes me about 5 minutes. If I add lipstick then that’s a whole different story lol us thin lip girls need to take our time.
Along with my thin lips, you might not know this about me blog reader, but my eye lashes are actually blonde (I know it’s so weird right? My hair is brown! It makes no sense), so before I add mascara my lashes might as well be invisible.
As a result I’m pretty picky when it comes to mascara, but I do like the Smoky Stretch mascara from Make Up Forever. I like how long the mascara wand is, as I find it’s easy to cover a lot of area pretty quickly. My lashes definitely looked a longer, and I loved how the applicator gets smaller at the end for applying mascara on my bottom lashes. I usually use a voluminous mascara, and so my bottom lashes can get a little clumpy and messy because the brush is too big. If you have thicker lashes and you want to define them this mascara would be a great option for you.
