  • When I moved to Halifax for university it was long before FaceTime and Netflix. I didn’t have a cell phone or a computer. I don’t think my landline had even been set up yet. I’d chosen a school that felt really REALLY far from home. I didn’t opt for a roommate, and I didn’t know a single person. Moving away from my family to a new city was by far one of the scariest things I’d done to date. ⁣ ⁣ I remember setting up my room, fluffy floral comforter, photos of my friends and family hung everywhere (would you expect anything less?). It was so painfully quiet. Can you imagine a dorm room being quiet ?? Mine was, and it was never quiet at home. Our house was small, I shared a room with my sister, and someone was always around, and that’s how I liked it. ⁣ ⁣ Flipping through the TV channels for background noise, any kind of noise, I stumbled on Mrs Doubtfire, a movie I’d watched dozens of times and it immediately felt like home. ⁣ ⁣ Sitting here on these steps in San Francisco now where the movie was filmed reminds me of how brave that young girl was, and all the amazing things she’s accomplished as a result of that one big scary move. I guess what I’m trying to say is that you never know what’s on the other side of fear, and being here really just reminded me of that. 💛✨
  • 🤪 Where am I ? What time is it ? ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ✈️Phewf 12 hours of travel later & I woke up in San Francisco (albeit after 3 hours of sleep). ⁣ ⁣ 🚲 Biking the Golden Gate Bridge while it took more hours than I slept last night will go down as one of the most surreal experiences of my life. Even watching my videos back it doesn’t even feel real. Does this ever happen to you when you travel ? What are some places where you experienced something like this ??
