I TRIED HYPNOTHERAPY AND HERE’S WHAT I LEARNED

Verity Vale Hypnotherapy

I’ve been on a health journey ever since returning back to Halifax after the holidays. Truth be told I burned myself out. The months leading up to the holidays are always my busiest time for work, and despite my best efforts it got to me. I really pushed myself, and the limits that both my mind and body could handle, and suffered some intense health complications as a result. I’m not proud of it, I mean we all kind of think of ourselves as bionic women who can handle it all right?? I was embarrassed I let myself get there, but I also really needed to suck it up and do the work to get back on track again.

Anyone who runs their own business I’m sure can relate because we all share the same mentality. We’ve worked so hard to get where we are, and it’s tough to let go. We always could be working, and when we’re not working we feel guilty about not working. It’s a vicious cycle, and it’s also an unhealthy one.

When Verity Vale Hypnotherapy reached out to me about doing a hypnotherapy session I thought wow thank you universe (insert prayer hands emoji) because I really need this in my life. With everything I’ve been through in my life I’ve pretty much seen every type of health care professional, but I’d actually never tried hypnotherapy. I was super intrigued about the experience, and I have to admit I really didn’t know what to expect; the closest I’ve been to a hypnotist was in junior high when a man made my friends act like animals on stage. Clearly this is not what I was going to experience with Verity, but it’s all I knew, and I imagine you’re close the same.

Like everything I do I went in with an open mind, and just hoped for the best. And guys it was truly transformative. I really and truly felt myself getting more and more relaxed during the session. I have a lot of energy (y’all know I’m pretty peppy), and while many people might think this is a blessing it does take a toll on my body because it’s extremely difficult to get my mind to slow down.

Like anything, there’s a variety of approaches, of course, but what I love about Verity’s approach is that it’s Solution Focused Hypnotherapy which means she’s focused on outcomes! She’s not going back and making you upset about something that happened to you when you were little or something. It’s all about positivity, and positive thoughts to help you move forward not backward.

We have on average 50,000-70,000 thoughts per day, and one negative thought can really send us in a downward spiral fast.

It’s really easy for us to go down the rabbit hole with negative thoughts, but it’s really tricky to find our way back out and sometimes feels impossible. The mind is complicated that way. Because hypnotherapy takes you down a notch you can really get in there deep to plant the seed of positivity. It’s really amazing what Verity is doing, I know I’ll be back again. You can really tell she cares about her practice and she really wants to help people.

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?

When we are in Hypnosis we have access to the subconscious, where we store our instinctive behavioral patterns and natural reactions.

Hypnotherapy uses trance in order to consolidate the outcome of the session. It is often used to help people to move away from previous patterns of behavior and experiences and towards their future goals.

WHAT CAN HYPNOTHERAPY BE USED FOR?

  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Confidence and Self Esteem
  • Fear and Phobias
  • Panic Attacks
  • Agoraphobia
  • Painful Memories and Trauma
  • Athletic performance
  • Physical manifestations
  • Insomnia
  • Exam and Interview prep
  • Smoking

HOW LONG IS A SESSION?

Your first initial consultation is free, and it’s at your discretion if you want to move forward. Sessions are typically an hour, and subsequent sessions are between 50 minutes to an hour.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

How many sessions you need really varies from person to person and also what your goals are for the treatment.  On average Verity suggests about 6-12 sessions.  If your goal is focused on fears and Phobias this can usually be treated within 4 sessions (which is kind of amazing when you think about it).

You can even use hypnotherapy to help you kick a bad habit like smoking, I actually had a few of you reach out to me on social media when I posted on my Instagram stories about my session that Hypnotherapy helped you quit smoking like 10 years ago and you’ve never smoked since. This is really incredible I was so happy to hear that so many of you had such success with hypnotherapy. I can’t imagine how freeing that would be, smoking is such a tough addiction to break. And while there’s never any guarantees it’s pretty amazing that with hypnotherapy you could be smoke free in as little as 1.5-2 hours, how incredible is that??

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Sessions are $100 per visit, which I actually think is very reasonable when you consider the results. Verity also gave me a recording of the session, so I could continue our practice on my own when I felt like I needed it. Which I think is amazing that she does this because it could be something I use before going to bed, or when I really want to channel my inner fire at my own convenience. She did suggest to do some journaling or something mindful before diving in to get the best results when doing it on your own.

IT IS COVERED?

Verity is certified for Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy treatment, which means some insurance plans do cover her services. It will depend on your individual plan (they all vary so much) you could always check ahead of time to make sure. Or consider using some of your additional health spending account for this service. Trust me, it’s worth it.

AM I IN CONTROL?

100% think of it like a really good yoga session or meditation class, it feels very similar. Verity cannot and will not make you do anything you do not want to do! You are in complete control the entire time.

Verity Vale Hypnotherapy

Immediately after my visit I felt a sense of calm, and confident. It was like I’d just done the most rigorous yoga class or meditation class, but all I need to do what lay there. I would 100% do this again, and plan to actually in a couple weeks! I really and truly felt myself getting more and more relaxed (and y’all I REALLY struggle with this). I felt really great after, and I love that the work you do with Verity carries on with you long after your visit because you’re doing that deep deep brain work. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

I felt so much better after our session, and more importantly I felt like myself again which was something I was really struggling with the weeks leading up to this visit. After the holidays I really just didn’t feel like my regular Kayla self. Learning about the hypnotherapy and how it works really made sense to me, Verity has an amazing ability to communicate what’s going to happen so you’re not scared or nervous. She really does give you the tools to trust her, and the process.

If you’re thinking about trying hypnotherapy and Verity Vale I strongly suggest you do! We are all trying to move forward rather than backward, and no matter what your goals or concerns are I really think this positivity focused hypnotherapy can really help guide you in the right direction.

Hope you enjoyed today’s special shout out to our photographer Mandy of Welcome Arms Photography, for all these photos from our session. Be sure to check her out!

I have wondered about this ! I use sleep hypno on spotify lol and it works for me to fall asleep, ( I have a hard time falling to sleep and shutting my brain down so to speak) but having a real person in the room to help with my confidence, and anxiety would be something I will definitely give a shot to. Thanks for the info ! As always, much love and keep sharing with us.
