HOLIDAY

GIFT GUIDE FOR THE PERSON WHO HAS EVERYTHING: EXPERIENCE GIFTS 101 + GIVEAWAY

We all have those people who are IMPOSSIBLE to buy for, like they literally have everything, and when they want something they just go out and buy it themselves. Like I said IMPOSSIBLE.

For the people who have everything I typically suggest experience gifts! I personally love experience gifts because it’s a great way to make memories together, and also try something new. There’s always a lot of laughs, and if nothing else it makes for great dinner party conversation.

I’ve compiled some of my faves to get your wheels spinning.

ACTIVE ACTIVITIES

When it comes to the holidays it can be tricky to find something to gift someone who doesn’t really value objects but rather experiences, and wellness. If you have someone on your list who’s very active, and you want to encourage that some ideas could include: bouldering, rock climbing, dance classes, circus, improv theatre, trampoline centre, or hot yoga.

Speaking of dance classes, a super talented friend of mine just recently opened his own dance company, House of Eights. He’s been killing it in the dance scene for quite a while, and what he’s doing and planning to do for the dance community here in Halifax is nothing short of inspiring. Recently he just brought a professional dancer to host a workshop, and it’s something he plans on doing quite regularly, and again very soon. The class was so successful he’s already planned and sold out his second with, Keenan Cooks from Broadway Dance Centre in New York.

GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED CONGRATS LIZ DUFF |

To celebrate we’re also kicking off a pretty rad giveaway with House of Eights! Enter to win 1 MONTH unlimited passes for you AND A FRIEND by using the rafflecopter widget below.

SPA SERVICES

I visited My Modern Age this summer when Monique first opened and she quickly won my heart. Every step of your service is carefully thought out, and no stone left unturned. With a focus on aesthetics and wellness I love the services Monique offers. I really think they are unique which is fun for the spa loving person on your list. Sometimes it can feel like you’ve done it all, but I’m confident Monique has options they’ve never experienced before and her sweet kind (and knowledgeable nature) is also part of the experience as well!!

Some of my fave suggestions are the, Infrared Sauna, LED light therapy, and the lymphatic facial.

**Stay tuned also for an epic giveaway with My Modern Age coming to my Instagram (make sure you’re following @shortpresents along so you don’t miss it).

COUPLES MASSAGES

Spirit Spa has been a fave of ours for massage for a long time, to be honest I don’t think neither of us would make the effort to stay so on top of it if we weren’t going together. Spirit Spa also has some amazing steam showers, so you definitely want to take advance of those because you can really make a day of it. In addition to massages (they are registered too btw so it could very well be covered by your insurance) they also offer plenty of options from skincare, aesthetics, and hair! With two locations (one downtown, and one at the Hydrostone) there are so many possibilities pop over to their website to learn more about what they offer. They also have some cool specials going on this month too, so be sure to check those out as well.

HYPNOTHERAPY

One the topic of trying something new recently I was approached by Verity Vale Hypnotherapy to try out their services, and I have to say I’m verrrrrrry intrigued by the experience. Sometimes you just have to slow things down am I right?? If you have a go-getter, yogi, or meditative junkie on your holiday shopping list this could be a great fit.

FLOATATION CENTRE

Have you ever floated?? It’s a really cool experience, and one of the great things about it is that every time is different. I’ve been the Floatation Centre with my boyfriend and our experiences coudn’t have been more different while he took a very relaxed approach he literally said he was thinking about nothing lol I was making life goals, faces some hard facts lol and it really and really was an emotional and productive experience for me.

TRAVEL

Is there a better experience gift than the one of exploring and culture?? NEWP! Travel takes the cake in my opion if you have the luxury and opportunity to do it.

Travel gifts could include holidays away together, but that’ll require a pretty big budget. If you don’t have a huge budget you could also consider Air Bnb getaways or even spots like Oceanstone aren’t too far out of the city, but offer the perfect little quiet  retreat! Read about our most recent stay at Oceanstone here.

If you don’t have a car or access to transportation outside the city: not to worry there’s still lots of options. You could consider playing tourist in your own town, opting for a local food or wine tours, ghost walk (Halifax has one of those), or if you have an upcoming trip maybe purchase tickets ahead of time that you can share together.

Go all out and opt for a Helicopter Tour to see the city from an amazing new perspective.

Wine / Distillery Tour

Along the same vein as city tours don’t forget that Nova Scotia has some amazing wine makers, distilleries, and breweries. We are winning international awards like crazy! And you can really make a weekend of it with the one’s located outside the city.

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean everything shuts down, there’s still lots to do and personalty I think it’s kind of magical.

If you’re looking for an event to purchase tickets for, we loved the Ice Wine Festival it’s such a fun event in February, and you can buy tickets now! As well as Halifax Curated puts on a lot of events in the city, so keep an eye out for tickets for their events too I’ve been to a few and they are always really well done. Click here to view their calendar.

AGNS Gift shop TICKETS

Make a night or afternoon of it, and opt for tickets to events, shows, theater, comedy clubs, art galleries etc

PERSONAL SHOPPING / STYLIST CONSULT

Make the day all about them by purchasing a personal shopping consult with non other than yours truly. Shopping consults range from 1-3 hours, and can take any form (it’s totally client driven they are in the drivers seat from start to finish).

Open to men and women these shopping consults really are so much more than clothing it really can be quiet emotional, and cathartic.

I love giving people the skills to build their confidence I find shopping consults SO rewarding. Learn more about how to purchase and book consultations at Halifax Shopping Centre by visiting their website, or click here.

Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility problems?
A few of my blog audience have complained about my blog not working correctly in Explorer but looks great
