WEEKENDING IN MONTREAL W/ LE CENTRE SHERATON + PORTER ESCAPES

Seared Tuna

2017 marks a very special occasion for Montreal, and with many celebrations taking place around the city it couldn’t have been a better time to stop in for a quick visit.

Just recently we had the ABSOLUTE pleasure of visiting Montreal to celebrate 375 thanks to the Le Centre Sheraton and Porter Escapes. Montreal is absolutely stunning this time of year I felt like I was living in a fairy tale. If you’ve not been to Montreal in the winter months you absolutely MUST go. It’s truly spectacular.

To learn more about our stay, and where to eat while you’re there see below. We’ve also included a fun little video recap as well.

ABOUT OUR FLIGHT

Y’all know I LOVE Porter  (just see this previous post when we went to Ottawa). I mean is there an airline that is consistently raising the bar like they are? From the reasonable rates to the complimentary snacks, in flight beverages to the porter lounge — I mean who doesn’t want to end their trip with a crisp glass of wine and some salty chips? Oh the chips (they are my favorite).

WHERE TO STAY

If you follow us on social media you know that we stayed at Le Centre Sheraton conveniently located in downtown Montreal.

With shops and restos located just around the corner Le Centre Sheraton couldn’t be a better spot to stay while visiting Montreal.

Because we’d been before we were super excited to reminisce all our previous stomping grounds in Montreal, but this time in winter. The last time we were in Montreal it was a little warmer* so we were excited to see what the city had to offer in the cooler months (and we weren’t disappointed!).

Short Presents

Amazingly Accommodating Staff

One of the things I love about staying the Le Centre Sheraton is their staff.

I have to say they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and accommodated.  It’s the little things that go along way, and truly appreciated how friendly everyone was to us!

Sheraton Hotels

Pool + Fitness Centre

Don’t forget about the Pool + fitness Centre. With a great size pool, a hot tub, and sauna: it’s absolutely stunning and a great way to unwind after a busy day touring around the city.

Sheraton Montreal

Sheraton Club Lounge

And with the club lounge included in our stay it was like a home away from home. When the lounge is included in your stay, not only does it include breakfast, but you can also hang out there during the day and enjoy hot tea and coffee, and some light snacks through out the day, and then from 6-8 they have hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and arguably the best view of the city!

The Club Lounge offered a great opportunity to mingle with the other hotel guests, and as well as the staff. The staff were so knowledgeable about the city we loved braining storming ideas with them and asking them for tips!

With plenty of hot tea and coffee, and snacks and an AMAZING view, The Sheraton Club Lounge was like a home away from home for us.

Montreal Club Lounge

We would definitely stay at the Sheraton again! We love the location, and while there’s plenty to do and see around the hotel even better right across is a metro station so access to the subway was super easy!

Thanks SO SO much to Le Centre Sheraton for having us. We seriously had the BEST time.

WHERE TO EAT

REUBEN’S

A landmark in the city of Montreal, Reuben’s is THE SPOT to grab some smoked meat sandwiches! We were trying to keep things light, so we opted for salads! Let me tell you,

Reuben’s might know smoked meat, but they also know salads. My seared tuna salad was probably one of the best salads I’ve ever eaten.

It always impresses me when restos like this really can offer a little something for everyone. We’ve eaten here a few times, and we’ve never been disappointed.

LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES

Ahhhh—-mazing view, great food.  I was so happy that Les Enfants Terrible was suggested to us, it was the perfect meal to start our trip!  Because we arrived super early in the morning we stopped into Les Enfants Terrible for lunch. And because this resto is located in an office building and it was Friday: it was definitely bump-in’. It took a little longer than we expected, BUT the food was great and we absolutely loved the meal.

I really don’t think I can even think of a resto I’ve ever been to that had anything like this meal (and that to me is always exciting). The sauces that came with my deconstructed lettuce wraps were to die for (totally worth the wait).

BURGER BAR CRESCENT

So I don’t have photos from our visit to Burger Bar Crescent, but please don’t let that deter you because this wasn’t our first time, and it won’t be our last. If you love a good burger (and I mean good) this is the spot to go.

Not fussy and conveniently located just around the corner from Le Centre Sheraton it couldn’t be more perfect.

We were so hungry after being out and about that day that I took some instastories, but didn’t take a photo (and they were photo worthy!). If you’re in the area, and you’re craving a burger pop over to Burger Bar Crescent. Our meals were cooked to perfection, and the service was great too. What more could you ask for?

SHERATON HOTEL RESTAURANT

One of the days we were in Montreal I think the temperatures dipped down past -15c, and of course that was the day that I wanted to shoot a bunch of stuff outside. Needless to say when we got back to the hotel we were both zonked and freezing, so we figured what the heck let’s just go downstairs.

We loved the convenience of just popping our shoes on and going downstairs to grab a bite to eat at the Sheraton Restaurant.

Universel Déjeuner & Grillades

When I knew we’d be touring around Mile End I figured we’ll let’s just do brunch there. Of course I got online and did some google searching, and Universel Déjeuner & Grillades kept coming up over and over, so I figured they had eggs benny on the their menu what could go wrong??

This meal was perfect, and exactly what we needed. We new that we’d be out for a really long time, and it likely would be hours before our next meal.

The food at Universel Déjeuner & Grillades was perfect, and our server was actually the sweetest human (like I want to be friends with her), and I just adored the whole experience.

Mile End Montreal

St Viateur Bagel

I spent the better part of my university degree surviving off these bagels, so of course I needed to stop into the shop to see what it was all about. Of course the bagels are never better when they are fresh, but better still was the experience.

It was SO neat to watch them prepare the bagels (they are so fast), and they were so sweet to let me take photos and videos of them in action.

As a blogger I’m almost always turned down for filming, but they were so ready and willing I was so happy that I share the experience with you guys. To learn more of scout of their various locations pop over to the st viateur bagel website or click here.

Bagels, and fresh baguette montreal

Mamie Clafoutis

Located in Mile End and right next door to the place we stopped in for brunch I’m really sure my nose led me into Mamie Clafoutis. While I was super full from our delicious brunch I was actually SO happy to have stumbled upon this adorable little bakery. Not only was it super adorable, but the staff were so SWEET. I have to loveliest conversation with the employee working, and she suggested some really great breads personal to me (amazing that she even asked these questions).

I ended up getting a poppy seed baguette, as well as a blue cheese and walnut baguette, and good lord it was amazing. I’ve never tasted anything like this in my whole entire life, but man or man it was so good.

The saltiness of the cheese with the crunch of the walnuts it was heavenly (and I don’t even like blue cheese lol). I can’t stop thinking about how amazing this bread was, I know the next time I go back to Montreal I’ll be stopping into Mamie Clafoutis for sure.

Montreal Coffee Shops

Aloha Espresso Bar

https://www.facebook.com/AlohaEspressoBar/

I’m not going to lie we probably spent a bit too much time outside, and so we REALLY needed to thaw out, so we sought refuge at Aloha Espresso bar, and filled up on copious amounts of piping hot tea.

This coffee shop is quite possibly the most fun, and it’s colorful interior was such a contrast to the dead of winter outside!

See our full Montreal recap in my recent vlog !

We got A LOT of requests about what to do in Montreal (especially during the colder months). Because we are like power tourists we did A LOT while we were there. Catch our What To Do In Montreal (In Winter) post coming soon!

Special thanks to Le Centre Sheraton, Porter Escapes, and Tourism Montreal for their assistance it making all of this possible.

Of all the cities in the world I have visited, Montreal remains at the top of my list. Your blog post and video diary did it justice 🙂 After watching that I can’t see why everyone wouldn’t plan a trip ASAP!
