THE IRONY OF A KNIT TANK

Knit tank tops seem to be everywhere you turn these days, but does anyone else feel like they are sort of ironic? How do you know when to wear a knit tank top? And will a knit tank make you feel warmer? It is summer after all.

I didn’t really think about it, but recently someone brought it to my attention that knit tank tops are kind of an oxymoron. Knit clothing is meant to keep us warm, and that’s basically the last thing we need this time of year.

WHAT I’M WEARING > Tank, c/o Gap (similar). Trousers, c/o Aritzia (on sale). Shoes, c/o Nine West (old). Bag + Scarf, c/o Old Navy. Sunglasses, Celine Audrey via Smartbuy Glasses. Earrings, c/o Pandora.

However, walk into a store right and I’m confident you’ll find a knit tank or a knit dress, and I’m going to tell you why.

Knits are SUPER breathable. The thing with knit in summer is that they are woven much looser than their winter counterparts, and trust me you would NOT welcome this easy breezy tank in the winter.

Also who doesn’t doesn’t love a little texture. There’s something about this opposition that I’m into. I know surprise surprise— I’m all about juxtoposition when it comes to style. Besides knits can get a little bulky in terms of layering, so a knit tank is really better off during the warm summer months anyways!

I love pairing knit with denim shorts, distressed jeans, or even over your swimsuit. Or lightweight fabrics like these Cohen Trousers from Aritzia (on sale here).

What about you dearest blog reader what are your thoughts on knits during summer?
