‘WHERE’S THE BEEF’, FROM ?

I’m a pretty healthy eater about 90% of the time, I tend to maintain a very healthy diet during the week so I can indulge on the weekends. And I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I do enjoy a burger from time to time, and that I’ve actually never met a french fry I didn’t like.

Recently I was approached to give the 100% Canadian beef burger from Wendy’s a try. I’m not an expert in burgers (are there experts in burgers lol if so, how do I get that job?? haha). Future career aspirations aside, having just come from two back-to-back dance classes (extra practices for an upcoming show on top of my regular 5 times a week) —I was pretty much ready to eat my own arm off, so a quick pop through the drive thru sounded great to me.

So what’s new with Wendy’s beef?

Founded on the idea of quality, Wendy’s has always maintained that fresh tastes better but wanted to see what consumers were saying. Taking great pride in serving local, fresh never frozen, great tasting beef Wendy’s knows it’s consumer expectations continue to evolve and suggested they are committed to delivering the taste and quality Canadians have come to expect.

“We know consumers value quality and the importance of supporting locally sourced products. We have made sure that one hundred percent of Wendy’s beef is raised in Canada and served in every hamburger across the country,” —says Lisa Deletroz, Marketing Director Wendy’s Canada.

Wendy’s knows its consumers are much more informed about their food choices than they’ve ever been before, and we are voting with dollars (yay! go us).  Along with quality, supporting local is something that’s also very important, and not just in terms of taste but also from a sustainability standpoint. It doesn’t make sense to ship meat from all over the world when we have some of the largest beef industries right here in Canada. A recent survey also revealed that Atlantic Canadians (82%) feel the strongest (go us!) about fresh beef rather than frozen.

The Verdict

It’s delicious (duh), of course, fresh is better than frozen. Anyone who’s made a frozen burger versus a fresh one knows the difference is astronomical. Thanks so much for inviting me to try out your burgers Wendy’s 🙂 Just want to let you know I’m around most weekends, so you know feel free to reach out wheneves.

Hope you enjoyed today’s post. We will be running a giveaway for some gift cards for Wendy’s, so be sure to pop over to the @ShortPresents Instagram to enter.
