BEHIND THE SCENES PSEUDIO FALL/WINTER PHOTO SHOOT

One of the insanely fun parts of my job is assisting on photo shoots. I absolutely love love photoshoots. It’s one of those days when you know you just get to be super creative with some wickedly talented people, and it also gives me an excuse to leave the office (yahoo). And for someone who’s usually in front of the camera, it is so nice to be behind the camera lending advice for a change rather than the other way around.

When you’ve been doing this as long as I have (combined with 10 years of dance training) you get pretty good at knowing how to move a body to make it look better. Not that I had to make many suggestions as Brittany from Hind Hart Studies is amazing, and so great to communicate with the models to get that perfect shot! And the models were super great to take cues as well to get the shot. Also it totally helps that they are young and oh so beautiful haha :):)

As you may have gathered we shot outdoors which always has it challenges, but what a beautiful day for it. Considering it rained cats and dogs the day before, and the weather can pretty much turn on a dime here in Halifax we were super happy having spent the full day outside at Point Pleasant Park. With some clothing racks packed to the brim with Pseudio Fall/Winter goodies the models were troopers to sport these looks in 20+ weather.

Speaking of the clothing did you know that Pseudio is actually a locally owned company? With 30 locations sprawling all over Atlantic Canada (from Cape Breton, NewFoundLand, Halifax, Truro, and Yarmouth and many more in between see all locations here) what I love about Pseudio is that they do so well to bring in both big name brands of quality clothing (Vero Moda, Crooks n’ Castles, Vans, Levi’s, TOMS, Only, Silver Jeans, Guess, Jack&Jones, Oakley, FOX, Hurley, The North Face, Helly Hansen, Metal Mulisha, and more), as well as Atlantic Canada companies too!

Always on the go, Pseudio‘s buyers are always jet setting from Montreal to LA to hunt down what’s trending. They work really hard to source everything you need all year round for all types of weather (welcome to Canada) “from LA fashion to small Canadian brands that give back” I’m always happy to work with this company.

Some of the local brands are highlighted here, Be Human Project, East Coast Lifestyle,  Ten Tree, and Fog Off Clothing, and as a kindness enthusiast myself I wholeheartedly enjoy working to promote these brands as well, and have some projects up my sleeve, so be sure to stay tuned for those coming soon.

How cute are these photos though? Speaking of these cu-ties we need to extend a huge thanks to Kristen Scott for doing the girls makeup. Didn’t she do a great job? Can we find out what highlight she used though? Because those gals were glow-ing.

Kind of makes you wish you were going back to school hey? Well almost. I definitely don’t miss the midterms, and although I arguably still have deadlines (and probably even more so now) there’s still something about fall that’s exciting right? It’s such a transitional time, and there’s something about it that makes you feel like you have a fresh start or a clean slate.

Even though I don’t go back to school anymore I can’t help but still want a new pair of jeans, or a new jacket, or maybe a new pair of booties.  I may or may not still purchase a new agenda (hey I’m a busy gal I got things to do). Anyone else feel the same? I mean you spend the majority of your life gearing up for school in September , so I’m thinking somethings just stick with you.

And let’s hear it for the boys! The fellas did such a great job too. It was actually pretty fun to watch them do their thing, and interact with the gals. They are all brothers too, so of course, there was some friendly torment as well. The boy wore these clothes so well, and were totally game for anything. What naturals!

And of course, even some of the Samuel & Co staff got in on the action. Selah (on the right) is too adorable for words in this pic! One of the things you quickly learn on a photoshoot is that your role is never clearly defined. You need to be willing to jump in and assist with any task at anytime, and sometimes that means rolling up your sleeves and getting in there!

Huge shout out to Pseudio for inviting me along for this shoot I had SO much, and I love working with this team so much.

Be on the look out for some amazing shot from Britnany (Hind Hart Studios) having caught a glimpse of some of the shots on her camara I know she nailed it.

Great job all around ya’ll!

xx
