DIY WEDDING MAKEUP

For the wedding I attended in Mexico you might be surprised to know that I did my own makeup for the ceremony. I know I know, I should leave it to the professionals, but to be honest I always like when I do it myself better ๐Ÿ™‚ I mean if Kate Middleton can do her own makeup for her royal wedding I should be able to pull this off right? Find out what I used, and some behind the scenes photos inside this post.

Okay even bigger confession I did not only my own hair and makeup, but I also did three of the other girls’ makeup as well.
For the look I used a similar approach (of course adhering to the girls individual skin coloring) but for all girls I applied: primer, foundation, powder, brozner, blush, eye makeup, and false lashes, and mascara (spritz of mist and fix).
For my makeup I used the following products (and yes I toted all of these to Mexico).
Elizabeth Arden Flawlessly Perfect 24 HR – Blended into the skin (with a brush or sponge)
Rimmel Concealer-  Apply lightly under eyes, and on any blemishes (red spots)
Loreal True Match Powder – Apply to entire face to set the foundation.
Annabelle Matte Bronzer “sunbreeze” – Dust under cheek bones, on temples (hair and jaw line). Should kind of make a “3”. I also add some to the sides of the nose. I like to avoid shimmer on the face when down south because it can look like your sweating (which you probably already are and don’t need any help). Sometimes shimmer doesn’t translate well on camera just an FYI.
Lancome Blush  Subtil “381 Plum Charm” – Applied to a apple of the cheeks, and blended into the bronzer. Hands down my favorite blush of all time!
Makeup Forever Micro finishing Powder- applied lightly all over the face.
Naked 2 Urban Decay Palette – “half baked” on lid (just to crease), “snakebite” in crease, booty call under eyebrows, down the nose, and on the cupids bow, and “busted” along the outer edges of the creases.
Makeup Forever “Ink” Liquid Eyeliner – just on the top (for the false lashes).
Kiss False Lashes– Trimmed and glued using the natural aloe black glue. I love these lashes and they literally are like $5 at Walmart.
Annabelle Big Show Waterproof Mascara – After applying the false lashes are apply mascara to help comb your natural lashes with the false ones, and help coat the very base of them.
Lipstick – Maybelline “blushing bud” – Apply and blot, and re-apply.  Also my favorite lipstick right now!
Makeup Forever Mist and Fix – spray into the air and walk under to set your makeup and make it last. Love this product for humid temps, or for long days where there’s not a lot of time for touch ups!
Before heading out to the wedding I also dusted on Jane Iredale’s dry sunscreen to add extra sun protection while standing in the wedding. I loooooooove this product because it doesn’t affect your look at all and it its waterproof? How amazing is that?
Because I was doing the other girls makeup I had to make sure mine was done first, as well as my hair, so my makeup REALLY needed to last. I applied my makeup at around 10 or 11 am, and there were plenty of (non-airconditioned) adventures that happened in between then and the wedding at 4pm (actually I think we started late, Mexico 4pm).
Not only did my makeup last through the wedding (on the beach) it also lasted well into the reception, and the dance floor of both the reception AND the disco after! I came home and I was pretty impressed with how it held up considering I’d soaked completely through my dress with sweat from dancing (probably too much info eh?). When I hit the dance floor blog reader I hit it hard (Mexico heat or no heat), so I was pretty happy my makeup held up ๐Ÿ™‚
