RUSH BRUSH: A REVIEW

Cake Beauty’s new do-it-everywhere dry shampoo, Rush Brush is a volumizing dry powder that comes with an on-the-go brush applicator that stimulates roots for volume and texture while absorbing excess oil! Having received this item at a time when I was moving, renovating, and attending fashion week it couldn’t have come at a better time.

After spending the entire day cleaning and gutting out our old place I had about an hour before the Atlantic Fashion Week Closing show started. Everything I owned was in boxes, and we hadn’t purchased a shower curtain or a vanity mirror yet. What was I going to do? I hadn’t wash my hair since… when was the last time I showered again? Oh God I couldn’t remember (that’s pretty bad). So with an hour tops I decided to take a glass of wine, and plunk sorry self in the tub. I hadn’t even thought about what I was going to wear. I was a mess.

After “relaxing” in the tub I went to my closet where I literally only had the items from my closet that were on hangers. And so I grabbed a blazer, and I was like okay I have a blazer… what can I wear with this? Ummmmmm a blouse. Perfect! Okay so I have a blazer and a blouse: I need pants. Oh god where are my pants??? I rummaged through my suitcase, and found (thankfully) a pair of black trousers. This is going to have to work (or it’s going to have to). Luckily I think it looked okay, nothing super exciting, but definitely presentable.

Alright so I had clothes no need to go to AFW in my birthday suit, but what am I going to do about this hair? It had been in a pony tail all day, and pulled off my face, and I was scared to even look at it. I took it out and brushed it, and I was like okay I can’t fight this, this has to stay up. Then I remembered the RUSH BRUSH!! I quickly dug through all my totes full of makeup and beauty products, and found it, and it was like the heavens opened up, and it was raining happiness.

I used this product with no trouble, and suddenly my hair smelled, felt, and looked better. The powder is slightly tinted, so it blended very easy with my natural hair color, and it soaked up all my access oil (sorry I know this is gross). So my hair looked great, and then of course it was raining outside haha, so really whatever I was going to do to my hair would have been ruined anyway lol.

To say I love this product is understatement! I love love love the smell (and keep getting compliments on it), I love the texture (added volume), I love the coverage, and I love how easy it is apply. Because the product is also in the applicator it’s really easy to apply, as well as tote along with you everywhere. For a girl who has bangs and fine hair this is a major win.

To be honest I’ve been looking for a dry shampoo for quite some time, and I don’t really like the sprays I find them difficult to control while applying, as well my hair usually felt more dirty after applying. This wasn’t the case for the Cake Beauty, I found the small brush applicator very easy to apply, and the powder doesn’t feel gunky or thick in your hair: it’s light and fresh. Love it.
