London Calling

The “Kate Effect” makes it way across the pond with a capsule collection now available at Banana Republic. Check out how I styled the perfect pre-fall dress.

This
very versatile red dress I am wearing is part of the Pre-Fall
Limited Edition Banana Republic Issa London capsule collection debuting
in stores and online on Aug 9th.  Dubbed as the “Kate Effect
we can’t get enough of Kate Middleton’s style, and now thanks to a
partnership with Banana Republic we no longer need to cross the pond to
get it.

Featured Items: Issa London Wrap Dress: c/o Banana Republic | Pearls: Charm Diamonds | Shoes: Marc Fisher | Clutch: Victoria Secret |

This is the first time that Issa has collaborated with a global retailer, but after making global headlines when Kate Middleton wore her (now famous) silk blue wrap dress to announce her engagement to Prince William, I’m sure it won’t her last.

With the announcement of Prince George’s arrival I can’t help but want to channel my inner Duchess of Cambridge into my style. I recently wore this red dress to a summer wedding that was being held at the Lord Nelson Hotel, and of course I had to pair it with pearls and a sock bun (it was an evening wedding, and so I felt like I needed to dress it up slightly). But you could easily pair this dress with some fun costume jewelry and flats to make it the perfect day dress at the office.

With over 40 pieces, The Banana Republic Issa London collection is inspired by the Duchess and is suggested that Kate could easily wear any of these pieces. Classic and elegant (yet practical) this collection marries convertible style with Issa’s feminine shapes and signature prints that will take you from day to night. You can expect to see romantic colors with elegant draping, figure flattering silhouettes (hence the wrap on the dress), signature prints while ultimately creating a style that easily transforms from summer to fall.

Will you be channeling your inner princess blog reader?
Happy Friday!!
Sincerely,
Short Presents

Thanks for this post. I was googling to determine the actual color of this dress. I'm looking for a work-appropriate red dress and this might just be the thing – except it looks kind of brick-orangey on the website and the model has a very different skin color, so hard to tell. It looks super flattering on you, and we have pretty much the same coloring so I think I'll order it!

I am so glad I found your site! I was on the fence regarding buying this dress… On the model, the tieback was on the back, and I actually prefer the tie on the front so I can wear a blazer. (I thought it might be too weird to have the blazer on and then you see the “tail” sticking out in the back which is actually the tie). You modeled the dress with the tie on the front, which confirms that the sash is long enough to either tie in the back and the front. I went and bought it. This dress looks amazing on you!
