Berry Smoothie with Chia Seeds

Thanks to my Magic Bullet (and my mom) I’ve become smoothie obsessed. Smoothie’s are so healthy and SO delicious. I often fire up a smoothie, spin the cover on and throw it in my dance bag to take it with me to dance class. I have dance classes pretty late a couple nights a week, so smoothies are a great way to get some much needed protein without loading up. Dancing on a full stomach makes turning much more difficult. My freezer is full of bags of frozen fruit, so I just grab those throw in some yogurt and OJ and presto! I’m a dancing queen.

For the Recipe honestly it’s super simple.

  • Handful of frozen Raspberries
  • Handful of frozen Blueberries
  • few chunks of frozen mango (mmm…)
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt
  • splash of Orange Juice
  • tbs of chia seeds (metabolism booster)

The magic bullet is quick and with the lids it’s easily portable. I recently just discovered Chia Seeds from watching Dr. Oz. Rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and fibre these little power house seeds are supposed to help with your metabolism, and also your blood sugar. Curious about all this hype I decided to test them out. Today I made a smoothie and threw some chia seeds into the mix, and with the raspberry seeds I don’t even notice them.

You can eat toss these seeds into salads, or if you have a coffee grinder you can grind them up into a finer consistency and throw them in with your cereal, orange juice, yogurt or even baked goods. The possibilities are endless. Flax seeds get a lot of publicity for their benefits, but Chia seeds are arguably just as good if not better for you.

Where can you find these little miracle workers?
Chia seeds can be purchased at most Bulk Barn locations, you could call ahead to make sure, but chances are you’re going there to buy walnuts and chocolate covered coffee beans anyway right?

Haha, I read this as I'm sitting here, chomping on bulk barn buts 😛 I'll have to get some of those, I could use a metabolism booster!

Nice smootie recipe Kayla! Thanks for sharing…I have a blender now with a top that can serve as a cup to go so they're great on the run.

Looks super healthy! I have become a little addicted to this store in NYC that sells smoothies, but they are sooo expensive, so I need to get juicing…

Good sharing, chia seeds are one of the world’s richest source of plant-based Omega-3s, and it is known to deliver the Omega-3 which is equivalent to 275g of wild salmon in just two tablespoons. For detail visit:
